Insects on Mt.Taihaku




There are many animals and plants in and around Mt.Taihaku.

Mt.Taihaku, and the arears that surround it and around Sendai, are well known for their abundance of animals and plants, which also includes many rare species.The area is also rich in insects, more than 60 kinds of butterflies, and is inhabited by 40 kinds of dragonflies. Since , at present, most insects in this area are protected, the insects in this exhibition are mainly from other locations.

In this exhibit,there are a butterfly(Janome-tyo) whose reverse side of wing looks like an eye,and butterflies(Uranami-aka-sijimi, Uragomadara-sijimi and Uragin-sijimi) whose back design of wing is pretty.
You can look at reverse sides of wing with a mirror.
